The webshop consists of local and tourist-releated products – and things from Tegneseriebua ("The Comics Booth"): Used comics, console games, books, videos and a lot more. All things are supposed to be in stock, but since there usually just is one of each there is a chance it might be sold before the catalouge is updated (especially in the summer season when it's open here). Often the item can still be aquired on order . You can also search the catalouge of nordicdvd.com that mainly consists of Nordic film and music, but other new releases are also included – mainly international/ independent films and not the usual Hollywood films that are sold everywhere else. Often items are added by recommendation or request from visitors.
Shopping is easy – simply surf the webshop and add the items you want to the cart. At check-out you can select shipping options and payment. Special orders are welcome – just use the request form! Most CD/ DVDs released in Scandinavia and Germany can be aquired – and a lot of import from other parts of the world. Some books (mainly Swedish), video games and electronics are also available. Certain items can only be ordered from affilites. Simply follow the link to their website and complete the sale there. This English page is written mainly for those ordering from outside Norway – check the Norwegian information for some more details about ordering from within Norway. Feel free to take contact if you have any questions before placing an order.
All communication regarding your order (if needed) will be done through e-mail, so be sure to enter a valid e-mail address. Please specify if you can't be reached by e-mail in near future. The shop is physically located in Norway, so the exact prices are given in NOK both including and excluding VAT (TAX) – the price charged depends on your location and shipping method. There is no VAT on books. The final total will of course be shown in check-out before you enter your payment details. In rare cases the price from the supplier might have been increased significantly – you will of course be contacted if that happens. If the price is lower you will of course get it at the current price automatically. The EUR, GBP and USD convertion on the site is approximate – consult xe.com's currency calculator for a more exact convertion.
VAT and other taxes/ fees might be added by customs in your country. Some countries also have strict import laws (especially when it comes to food products and films), so investigate that before ordering so you don't risk that your package is seized by customs – or even legal charges. Needless to say, no compensation will be given in such cases.
To keep prices as low as possible most items are not kept in stock, but will be ordered up from suppliers as orders come in. An estimated number of days until shipping is shown in the webshop, but if order volume is low it will take longer. You will not be notified unless it's suspected that it will take more than four weeks until your order can ship. So your order can be shipped anywhere between the number of days given in the webshop and four weeks unless you hear otherwise. Items in stock will of course be shipped right away. An e-mail confirmation will be sent when the order is prepared for shipping.
You can pay by VISA, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Diners Club, bank transfer, through the Swedish payment service Payson (within EU and Norway) or cheque/ money order. You will be given instructions for the payment form you selected during check-out. You enter credit/ debit card details through a secure server. The charge will not be made until it's confirmed that your order is available from the supplier. The company name that will appear on your credit card bill is "Sommerstua" or "Sommerstua/OEB"). Credit (payment by bill) will only be granted to major companies and organisations. POD (payment-on-delivery) or PayPal is not available.
You can choose from various shipping methods during check-out. Regular airmail is usually the cheapest and most practical, but is not insured. For expensive orders registered airmail or Swiftpost is recommended (can be traced online). Shipping by FedEx or DHL is also offered, but is only recommended for big orders from large companies and organisations. Take contact if it's more than four weeks since your order was shipped so a trace can be initiated. Usually it's just a delay in customs, so it might be a good idea to contact them.
Within Norway you can return orders for no particular reason within 14 days, as long as the sealing is not broken and the total order value is above 300 NOK (incl. shipping). You have to pay postage charges. In case you suspect the item is faulty, always take contact before returning to avoid any misunderstandings. Incompatibility with your equipment will not be considered a fault. The warranty period varies from one to five years. For used items three months warranty is given. However, always take contact before returning an item for any reason.
