The history of kp

June/ July 21, 1989kp had it's early beginning ages ago, before computers and internet existed... well at least for me. I started the magazine as a club, Avis Klubben (The Newspaper Club in English) on June or July 21, 1989. In 1991 I re-named the magazine Kvernan Posten (something like Kvernan Times in English, «posten» = the post, the mail, the newspaper etc.). In 1995 I quit the «club» completely and it was just a magazine. Before that I arranged a «party» in the beginning of the summer for all the members. From 1996, the magazine was again re-named to simply kp.

In the beginning I wrote the paper by hand, and it didn't really have so much contents. Later I started to write with a typewriter and finally on various computers. Now I'm using an Olivetti PCS Pentium 75 Mhz to the most of the paperwork. I also use a Hewlett Packard 85 to the address notes, and an IBM 286AT to the «bills». I've used WordPerfect 4.2 for DOS, then Microsoft Works and now Word. I use Corel Draw 4 to the frontpage. From 2000 I've used a home-built Intel Celeron 433A with Microsoft Word for all editing. I make PDF files to preserve the original layout for the future.

It's only me who works with the paper, but some times someone else writes a book review or comes with suggestions on what I should write. But mostly I'm writing myself. I don't write so much news in the paper, since it's only 4 numbers a year, but I write about some special, important and interesting news in each number. Else it's competitions, comics or jokes, food recipes, an «extra» (a calendar, game, more pages etc.), a book or video review and more in the paper. I also write «specials» in some issues.

Now in 2003 the very last paper issue will be released. There were no issues in 2002. So now kp is internet only! Times are changing...
